Green-Wood Cemetery was founded in 1838 as a rural cemetery in Kings County, New York, now known as Greenwood Heights, Brooklyn. The cemetery with approximately 600,000 graves is spread out over 478 acres comprised of rolling hills and several ponds. It is the final home for Jean-Michel Basquiat, Leonard Bernstein, Peter Cooper, Nathaniel Currier, Louis Moreau Gottschalk, Elias Howe, Theodore Roosevelt, Sr., Henry Steinway and many others.
